India vs South Africa would be an equally exciting match as the likes of India vs Pakistan. India has never won a world cup match against South Africa. On the other hand, South Africa has never won a world cup.

First time India met South Africa in the world cup was in 1999 when Kirsten and Hudson took away the match from India. In 1999, Kallis was the hero. In 2011 Sachin scored a big ton only to see India lose in a tight match. Dale Steyn took five wickets then.

There has been couple of interestingly funny videos going viral on the internet about this match. The first one is from Star Sports that shows South African fans handing over the crackers to Indian fan making him realise that India has never won a world cup match against South Africa. An unofficial video which is a response to Star Sports video shows Indian fans handing back the crackers to South African fans making them realise that India has atleast won two world cups whereas South Africa has none in their trophy cabinet.

This would be a great contest and a litmus test for all three departments of cricket - fielding, bowling and batting. If Indian bowlers can be as economical as they were against Pakistan, India has a high chance of nailing this one. Both South African and Indian batsmen are in good form, hence this promises to be a high scoring match.

Let us move the focus a bit to the other match for the day. Sri Lanka faces Afghanistan in a match that starts earlier (3:30 am Indian Standard Time). Sri Lanka is struggling to find form since November. They hardly have any wins under their belt. We saw them struggling in warm ups and now they lost one match against New Zealand. Unless and until the likes of Sangakkara, Jayawardene or Malinga hit form, its difficult for this team to make it to the quarter finals - considering how good the associate members and minnows are playing this time.

Afghanistan has nothing to lose and they can prove fatal for the Sri Lankans. Are we about to witness another upset? Or will it be a come back match for the Asian powerhouse Sri Lanka? Let us wait and watch the whole action live on Star Sports!
