The ODI series moves to Chennai where South Africa is up in the series 2-1. They are just one win away from clinching the series. India needs to win both the remaining games to win the series. Yet another well set chase turning out in a defeat for India in last ODI. What would be India's strategy now? Let us wait and watch it live on Star Sports network and HotStar app.
South Africa defended a target of 270 even after brilliant half centuries from Kohli and Rohit. Dhoni came up the order and batted well to score a 40 plus inning. But the team again lost its way when Dhoni and Kohli departed. Raina and Rahane went early and India lost by 18 runs. It was Morne Morkel who played a vital role in bringing in turning point to the match. He took four wickets for 39 runs.
When it comes to Chennai, either fans remember it has the home ground of CSK or its also remembered for a tight match between India and Pakistan when Saeed Anwar scored 194. During those days an individual score of 194 was considered to be mammoth and he continued to hold that record for a long time. He missed his double century by just six runs!
The Marina beach near the stadium will assist swing bowling. Hopefully Indian bowlers Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and Mohit Sharma will make full use of the swing. MS Dhoni has led CSK in many matches here at Chennai. So he must be well aware of the playing conditions including the pitch, outfield and dew factor. This should ideally play in favour of the home team India.
Team India has played ten ODI matches here winning five of them. One match against South Africa was abandoned due to rain while India lost the remaining four matches here.
While CSK banned from IPL for next two years, one can expect a lot of crowd here in the 4th ODI. With a lot of uncertainty about IPL matches being played here in next two years, the fans in Chennai and Tamil Nadu would not like to miss the opportunity of viewing an International ODI.
Fans who can't make it to the stadium can easily enjoy it live on Star Sports and HotStar.
