India were supposed to be the favourites to make it to the finals. That has happened. But not many had wondered if Bangladesh would reach the finals. That too after the likes of Sri Lanka and Pakistan being eliminated from the tournament. Well, its time now for the show for which we all waited. It's the final match of Asia Cup 2016 and India will face the hosts Bangladesh in Mirpur. One really can't attribute Bangladesh entry into the finals to the T20 format. Yes this could be the most uncertain format of cricket, but Bangladesh played some outstanding cricket to make it to the final match. They deserved this.
Bangladesh reached the finals even in 2012 against Pakistan. Since then the team has constantly improved. And not to forget, this is a very strong team 'at home'. In last one and a half years, Bangladesh have beaten India, Pakistan and South Africa at home in the ODI series. And now they have continued their winning run by beating UAE, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. They lost to India in the Asia Cup opening match this year.
Indian team is certainly much stronger on paper but they would never take Bangladesh lightly. Virat Kohli is in great form and so is Rohit Sharma. Shikhar Dhawan hasn't been consistent but he can play a big knock in the finals. Suresh Raina has looked good in patches and so has been Yuvraj Singh.
India's bowling unit has looked more formidable with the likes of Pandya, Bumrah, Nehra, Jadeja and Ashwin. Even Raina and Yuvraj have come in handy with their part time spin bowling.
Barring few injury issues, everything has fallen in the plate of India. They would have always dreamt of such a preparation ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup. The warm up matches for the big ICC event has already begun. India would love to end the Bangladesh tour on a winning note.
